TRUE NORTH'S STORY
Hello! I'm Nicole Ziemer, founder of True North Shiloh Shepherds, located in beautiful Stillwater, Minnesota, nestled in the scenic St. Croix River Valley. I share my home with my partner Mike, our Shiloh Shepherds, Liberty and Valor, our English Springer Spaniel, Arlo, and our rescue pup Truman.
I have had the privilege of being mentored by Laura Kathryn and Jessica Strauss of Strauss Haus – Solace Shiloh Shepherds. Together, they bring more than 40 years of experience breeding Shiloh Shepherds and had the opportunity to learn directly from the breed's founder, Tina Barber. Their knowledge, dedication, and commitment to preserving the Shiloh Shepherd have been invaluable in shaping my breeding program and reinforcing my commitment to the breed's future.
Dogs have been a constant part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up with English Springer Spaniels, and some of my fondest childhood memories are the adventures I shared with them. My love and appreciation for dogs were instilled in me by my father, who taught me the value of the unconditional love, loyalty, and companionship they bring into our lives. I've had a dog by my side since I was two years old, and I truly can't imagine life without one.
Service has always been a defining part of my life. I am a proud retired veteran, having served 13 years in the Minnesota Army National Guard, and I now continue that mission through my work with the Department of Veterans Affairs, where I have the privilege of serving fellow Veterans and their families. In 2022, I was able to combine my passion for service with my love of dogs by introducing the Shiloh Shepherd breed to the Veteran community. Through regular visits to Veterans Homes and community events, Liberty has provided comfort, companionship, and unwavering support to countless Veterans and their loved ones.
At True North Shiloh Shepherds, my goal is to preserve and promote the exceptional qualities that make the Shiloh Shepherd such a remarkable breed. I am committed to producing dogs with sound structure, stable temperaments, and versatile working ability while ensuring every puppy is raised with intention, early socialization, and the care needed to become a confident, well-rounded companion. Whether they become cherished family members, therapy or service dogs, or partners in performance and working sports, I strive to produce Shiloh Shepherds that exemplify the breed's intelligence, versatility, and gentle nature.
